Five years after the fall of Sebastian Morgenstern, Emma Carstairs is still trying to find out who killed her parents. Her parabatai, Julian Blackthorn, already has his hands full taking care of his family at the Los Angeles Institute. They go investigate a demonic convergence, and when they end up with nothing, they return to find that the Fair Folk have turned up at their door with Mark Blackthorn – a Shadowhunter they kidnapped years ago – as leverage for finding out who is murdering their kind. As the deadline comes nearer and the mystery unfolds, then Emma may learn more than she hoped to.

My favorite part in this story was when Jem Carstairs, former Silent Brother and inactive Shadowhunter, told her about the danger of falling in love with your parabatai. Even though it was devastating for Emma, her actions was what overwhelmed me most.
